This is a popular activity with people of all ages involving ascending or descending a river bed and having a lot of fun! This activity involves getting wet but you will be provided with equipment to combat the cold and a hot drink.
You get to jump into pools and climb waterfalls picking a suitable route with the guidance of one of our instructors. Most of the time you will just use your hands and feet to get to the next part of the river, but for those slippery or steep parts you will have the safety of using a rope provided by your instructor. This activity is excellent as part of a team building course as quite often you will need to help each other up sections of what could be best described as a wet obstacle course.
KMS can help you find a suitable ghyll scrambling venue in the Lake District no matter where you are staying. Our most popular are Church Beck near Coniston, Stickle Ghyll in Langdale and Stoneycroft Ghyll near Keswick. We also know of places that are less frequently used in Ullswater and Borrowdale. For a full days activity the Esk Gorge is ideal. A 2km long route with 200m of ascent with a number of pools and waterfalls set in spectacular Lake District scenery.
Ghyll scrambling or gorge walking is ideal as part of a multi-activity day which may include other activities such as climbing, abseiling, canoeing or kayaking ideal for groups, individuals or stag and hen parties.
All equipment is provided, contact us for details, view our prices for this activity and pictures in the Ghyll scrambling gallery.
